GSC Index guides for Search Console indexing requests

Updated October 2026 · v1.0.2

Request indexing in Search Console by hand, understand the daily limit, check which URLs are on Google, and see how that differs from the Indexing API.

Part of GSC Index.

Indexing request limit

Google caps how many indexing requests you can send from Search Console. GSC Index stops when that limit hits. It does not raise the quota.

Index a sitemap

Submit a sitemap in Search Console, then request indexing for the URLs that matter. A sitemap is not a request for every URL.

Indexing API comparison

Search Console’s Request indexing button and Google’s Indexing API are different tools. The API is not a bulk switch for ordinary web pages.

Check URLs on Google

URL inspection shows if a URL is on Google. GSC Index can mark a list before you spend a request on a page that is already indexed.

After a content update

After you change a page, request indexing for that URL only. You do not need to resubmit the whole site.
