Why Search Console Stops Indexing Requests

Updated October 2026 · v1.0.2

Inspect URL → Request indexing is a manual control with a daily quota. Google does not publish a number you can budget like an API plan, and the quota is not something an extension can buy.

GSC Index drives that same screen for a list of URLs. Free allows 5 submits on this browser. Premium removes the extension’s cap and still stops when Google’s own limit stops the run. A request does not mean the URL will be indexed.

See the limit yourself

You do not need an extension to learn whether you have hit it.

  1. Open the URL in Search Console. Use URL inspection on a property you can access.
  2. Request indexing. Use the button on that result. If Google refuses more requests, the page says so.
  3. Wait for the quota to reset. Sending the same URL again from another tool does not create a second quota.

Queue the list, stop at the limit

The extension keeps the remaining URLs in the list on this device so you can continue on a later day.

  1. Build the list. Scan a page, one URL, or a sitemap. Review it before you submit.
  2. Start the run. GSC Index opens Inspect URL and requests indexing in your signed-in Search Console tab.
  3. Read the stop reason. Free stops after 5 submits. After that, or on Premium, a stop means Google’s limit. Leave the rest of the list for the next window.

Quota is Google’s

  • Premium does not increase Google’s daily indexing quota.
  • The URL list stays in this browser. It is not uploaded as the indexing request.
  • Indexing remains Google’s decision after a successful request.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many requests does Google allow per day?

Google surfaces the limit inside Search Console rather than as a fixed public number on this page. When the button stops accepting requests, that is the quota.

Does the Indexing API use the same quota?

No. It is a different interface with its own rules. See the Indexing API guide before you mix the two.

Will a second Chrome profile double the quota?

Do not count on that. The quota is tied to how Google measures the Search Console user and property, not to an extension setting.
