How to Check Whether URLs Are on Google

Updated October 2026 · v1.0.2

A site: search is a rough hint. URL inspection in Search Console is the property-level answer for one URL, and it is slow to repeat.

GSC Index can check the URLs in your list and mark them On Google or Not on Google before you request indexing. Checking does not index the URL.

Get GSC Index for Chrome

Inspect one URL

Use this for a homepage, a new article, or any URL you can afford to open by hand.

  1. Paste the URL into inspection. Use the property that owns the host.
  2. Read the coverage. On Google, or a reason it is not. Request indexing only if you still want a recrawl and the button is available.
  3. Repeat. There is no multi-paste in the stock inspection bar.

Mark a list, then submit the gaps

The check uses the Search Console session you already have. The list stays on the device.

  1. Load the URLs. Scan a page, paste a list, or read a sitemap.
  2. Run the on-Google check. Rows marked On Google do not need a request unless you just changed them.
  3. Request the rest. Submit the Not on Google rows, within the free 5 or until Google’s limit on Premium.

A mark is a moment in time

  • An URL can leave the index after you checked it.
  • On Google does not mean the title and description are the ones you want.
  • Removal of a URL is URLSweep’s job, not this check.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a site: search enough?

It is a hint from public search, not the property report. Use inspection when the decision matters.

Does the check spend my request quota?

The request quota is the Request indexing action. Checking status is a separate step in the extension. Google can still rate-limit inspection itself.

Can I export the marks?

The list and the CSV report stay in this browser. Premium details are on the GSC Index page.
