How to Hide Cookie Banners in Chrome

Updated October 2026 · v1.0.4

A cookie banner is a consent dialog, not a Facebook ad. Rejecting or accepting it is a choice the site asks for. Hiding the box does not always record a choice the site will remember.

Adblock Premium can hide supported cookie banners. The free plan does not. Hiding a banner is not a substitute for the site’s own reject button when you need the site to store that choice.

Deal with the banner on the site

This is the reliable path when you want the site to remember a decision.

  1. Read the choices. Look for Reject, Essential only, or a similarly narrow option before Accept all.
  2. Save the choice. Use the site’s button. A reload should then skip the banner if the site stored it.
  3. Clear the site if it returns every visit. A banner that returns after you chose usually means the site did not save the choice, or the browser blocked its cookie. Try the choice again in a normal window, not a private window that discards cookies.

Hide supported banners with Premium

Premium hides banners Adblock recognizes. It does not click Accept or Reject for you.

  1. Turn on Hide Cookie Banners. This switch is part of Adblock Premium, not the free ad block.
  2. Reload the page. A supported banner is hidden. The page underneath should still be usable.
  3. Pause the site if a control is covered. If a real button sits under the hidden layer, pause Adblock on that site and use the site’s own choice.

Do not confuse hide with consent

  • A hidden banner may leave the site waiting for a choice, so some features stay limited.
  • Adblock does not sell a consent record and does not join a consent network.
  • Laws and site designs differ. Hiding the dialog is a visual filter in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does hiding a banner reject cookies?

No. It hides a supported dialog. Use the site’s reject control when you need a stored refusal.

Why is a banner still visible?

The banner’s markup is not one Adblock matches yet, or protection is paused on that site.

Is this in the free plan?

No. Cookie-banner hiding is Premium.
