Adblock by Pick Ads vs uBlock Origin Lite: Which Should You Use?
By the Pick Ads team · Tested on Chrome · Published October 20, 2026 · Updated October 20, 2026
Verdict: For broad ad and tracker blocking across the whole web, uBlock Origin Lite is the stronger general-purpose choice, and it's free. Adblock by Pick Ads is narrower. It focuses on Facebook sponsored posts and feed controls, YouTube and popular-site ads, plus optional distraction and cookie-banner hiding. Pick one of the two, not both.
Disclosure: We make Adblock by Pick Ads.

Choose uBlock Origin Lite if…
- You want blocking on every site, not just a few.
- You rely on established community lists such as EasyList and EasyPrivacy.
- You don't need Facebook-specific feed controls.
Choose Adblock by Pick Ads if…
- Your main annoyance is Facebook: sponsored posts, and with Premium, Reels, Suggested Posts and Recommendations. See hiding Facebook Reels and Suggested posts.
- You want one-click hiding of cookie banners, newsletter popups and floating videos (Premium).
- You prefer a short, simple control panel with a pause button per site and a blocked-ads counter.
Short profiles
uBlock Origin Lite. Built by the developer of uBlock Origin as a fully declarative Manifest V3 blocker. Good at: reliable filtering from browser launch with low resource use, by design. One real limitation: its developer says some original uBlock Origin filters can't be converted to MV3 rules. He also says it's less effective on sites that fight blockers. Generic cosmetic filtering is off unless you pick the "Complete" mode.
Adblock by Pick Ads. A Manifest V3 extension that combines Chrome's blocking rules with element hiding for supported sites. Good at: Facebook feed clean-up and distraction hiding in one place. One real limitation: it covers supported sites and elements, not the whole web, and doesn't promise every ad is blocked. It's also English-only today.
Using both?
How to switch
- Note any sites where you've paused or allowlisted the current blocker.
- Install the new extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Turn off the old one in
chrome://extensionsand check the sites you use most. - Remove the old extension once you're satisfied.
Privacy
uBlock Origin Lite's developer declares no data collection, and its FAQ says the extension doesn't contact remote servers. Adblock by Pick Ads describes blocking as local in the browser where possible, and missed-ad reports may use limited technical diagnostics. Read each developer's privacy policy before installing.

FAQ
Can I run both? It's not recommended. The uBlock Origin Lite developer says not to use another content blocker alongside it, and two blockers make broken pages harder to troubleshoot. Choose the one that fits your main need. If you mostly want Facebook feed controls, try Adblock by Pick Ads on its own first.
Which blocks more? By design, uBlock Origin Lite covers more of the web, because it uses large community filter lists on every site. Adblock by Pick Ads targets supported sites, Facebook in particular, and adds feed and distraction controls. We haven't published a side-by-side test yet. This page will be updated with dated results.
Is Premium needed? Not for blocking. Free Adblock by Pick Ads hides supported Facebook sponsored posts, blocks supported YouTube and popular-site ads, and pauses per site. Premium ($2.99/month or $29.99/year) adds Facebook Feed Controls, distraction blocking, cookie-banner hiding and Hide Anything. uBlock Origin Lite has no paid tier.
